Our training aims to be inclusive and addresses the unique ways in which domestic abuse impacts minority groups. However, we always encourage seeking guidance and training from specialists with expertise in these varied communities to enhance understanding and effectiveness.

Understanding Domestic Abuse in Children's Lives

An introduction into the effects of domestic abuse on children and young people. 

This training aims to improve knowledge and understanding of the range of abuses and how they can impact children including educationally. 

This training will also cover legal and role expectations of those working with children and young people and their families.

This training is suitable for professionals working with children and families, educational settings, those in training, undergraduates and postgraduates.

Domestic Abuse and Children's Education

This training focusses on the impact of domestic abuse on children's education and how education settings can best support those exposed to domestic abuse.

This training can be standalone or as an add on to 'Understanding Domestic Abuse in Children's Lives'.

This training is suitable for professionals working with children and families, educational settings and those in training to work with children and families.

Supporting the Education of Children Exposed to Domestic Abuse.

This is a solution-oriented workshop or consultation process that aims to work with an individual setting or service to enhance their offer of support for children and young people exposed to domestic abuse. 

We will work together to identify gaps in support and use what resources you already have to ensure your offer is practical and possible.

Systemic factors and how to provide to support those will also be considered i.e. how best to support families.  

This is suitable for education settings and professional services working with children and their families.

The EP and Domestic Abuse.

The focus of this training is to show how Educational Psychologists (EPs) can work with those exposed to domestic abuse and their families.

This training is suitable for EPs but it also suitable for other services and educational settings who wish to know how EPs can support them in their work with children and their families when it comes to domestic abuse.

  • Support for adult survivors of childhood domestic abuse.
  • Psychology informed PSHE modules on domestic abuse for children in different key stages.
  • Minority groups. Illuminated Psychology Ltd would like to work with specialists in domestic abuse in minority group communities to enhance our offer around the risks and resiliencies to children's education.
  • Support for Parent/carer's mental health. Parent/carer mental health is often intrinsic to domestic abuse but is also key to improving outcomes for children exposed to domestic abuse.
  • Other ideas. We would love to hear about your ideas and projects to potentially partner with you.
